About Our School
Aylesham Primary School services the village of Aylesham and the surrounding villages. It is a ‘good’ school. The building and grounds provide good facilities and are set in attractive and spacious surroundings.
The school is a two-form entry school with the ability to admit a maximum of 60 pupils in each year group. However, for historical reasons for many years the school has only had one form in each year group from Reception to Year 6. However, because of a large building development in the village which commenced in mid-2014 the school roll has started to increase - resulting in the opening of two additional classes and we are expecting to continue to expand.
The school also moved into a brand new state-of-the-art building in September 2017. We have a discreet Technology/Art Room, Studio/Music Room, Library and new school hall for physical education, games, movement and drama and as a meeting place for whole-school assemblies.
The school grounds are generous and the children enjoy a large area for games with a junior size football pitch ready for use. The grounds will expand once the old buildings have been demolished and replaced with new hard and soft play areas.
We have a fully inclusive approach and are aware that each child has an individual range of abilities and varying rates of progress in all areas of work and in relationships. Children with additional educational needs will be catered for by high quality teaching and ability grouping within each class. Work in class is ability matched and pupils receive extra support or interventions when appropriate according to need.
We have a dedicated SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) who is responsible for the co-ordination and provision of work for children who have special needs throughout the school.
