Music Development Plan

“Music holds a special place in our school community. It’s not just a subject we teach—it’s a key part of how we connect, learn, and grow together".  Mr Luck, Music Lead.

At Aylesham Primary School, children are taught Music by either the class teacher or our Music specialist. We teach a range of musical styles and genres from Year R to Year 6 and across a wide variety of musical instruments, including ukuleles, djembe drums, keyboards and melodicas, recorders and clarinets. Children also learn to sing as part of their music lessons, in Singing Assembly and in the additional opportunities for performance, for example the Nativity, Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter as well as the Year 6 end of year production.  Children also are given the opportunity to perform music outside of school at events such as the EKC rock concerts, carol services and music festivals, performing at the Gulbenkian theatre in Canterbury and singing alongside the Snowdown Colliery Male Voice choir.

Our new music zone on the playground

Thank you to EKC Aylesham who completed a joyful Music Board project for the school playground. From planning and construction to installation, students developed practical skills while making a meaningful contribution to our school.
