Home Learning - Absence Pack
Should your child need to be absent due to COVID 19 we have prepared some work for the children to complete whilst at home. Should you need to self isolate for 2 weeks a work pack will be prepared and sent home for you.
Please see the link to White Rose maths which follows the learning we are doing in school.
Year 1 have received a letter from Peter Rabbit, and a letter with some goodies from the Carle Museum in America, see them attached below. Please can you read the letters with your child, and write a reply. Please don't worry about posting a letter to America, especially in the current need to stay safe. If you can email the class a photograph of your letter, we will email the photo to the Museum.
The children have loved reading Carle's and Potter's stories. Some ideas to follow on from these stories are:
Making a model of, or drawing, their favourite character. They could label their characters too!
Writing their own version of a story they have read.
Acting the stories out at home.
Sharing books is so important - please remember to take time to read with your child. Encourage them to sound out words they are unsure of, and read words independently as much as possible. It's really important to explain the meanings of words, and to re-cap what is happening in the book as you go. Most of all, have fun reading together!
We record the weather on a daily weather chart. Please talk with your child and make a note about the weather each day. If it is rainy, can they make a rain catcher and see how much they collect? If it is sunny and rainy, what might they see in the sky? Can they draw or make one using household/natural objects? If it is windy, try making a kite!
In school we will be practicing skills from the Virtual Challenges, please see attached below. You could have a go at the activities, or adapt them as you need to. We've also been practising throwing and catching skills, and dancing to different types of music - you can try this at home too!
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs Walker, Miss Goddard and the Year 1 Team.
